When the first website was introduced on the air on August 6, 1991 it created so much possibilities.

Here's how it look like.

10 year later, it created many disruptions.

What does disruption or disruptive innovation means in business?

In business, a disruptive innovation is an innovation that creates a new market and value network and eventually disrupts an existing market and value network, displacing established market-leading firms, products, and alliances

What are the most innovating disruptions?

1. Travel Disruption

This disruption allowed  travel to be super accessible through Expedia, Priceline, Agoda and Booking.com (and etc.) disrupting how we buy travel related products and arrange our itineraries.

And before we buy them we are allowed to have a preview of the experience through website like TripAdvisor.

2. Shopping Disruption

e-Commerce transformed the world and so thus our marketplaces. The way we trade with what China is manufacturing was never this convenient. Alibaba reshaped world trade empowering micro sellers to find and be found by global wholesale buyers through their platform.

Ebay and Amazon pioneered this disruption in America.

3. Entertainment & Contents Disruption

We were never entertained like this before. Youtube, Facebook and Instagram changed the way we learn, we watch videos and share our thoughts and expertise.

In this generation, we stop looking for news, the news finds us.

Today, anybody can be anywhere.
And nobody can be somebody overnight.

4. Education Disruption

If you wake up one day realizing that you need to change path, getting a new formal education is no longer the first choice. Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare and Masterclass can give it to you in an instant. And even blogs, Vlogs and tutorials is easily accessible.

Wikipedia changed the way we consume knowledge - FREE and open to all.

5. Networking Disruption

The way we network was also disrupted and improved more beautifully. Meetup.com, Facebook Groups and Events, Eventbrite and Events.com (and many more) can allow you to network according to your interest.

6. Employment Disruption

I have never had a full-time job for over 3 years now but I am paid more than I was previously paid in all my traditional jobs in the past. And if I decide to find a job, employment seeking was also changed.

The new resume is now Linkedin. If your application is not directly sent through a company email, you are either filtered by third party sites like Monster, Jobstreet or JobsDB (and more.)

By the way, your HR might be checking your Facebook before they call you for an interview.

If the job offer in your location is not so interesting - Fiverr.com, Freelancer.com, Upwork.com or Elance.com might have something for you.

Or if you are looking for an opportunity matching your passion in Social Selling, Digital Marketing, Coaching, Health or you want to try the entrepreneurial path get a mentor. I can help you, send me an email at mentorme@iamklein.com

They say that over 2 minutes of reads, you might stop reading it.

It's close to 5 minutes reads and you have read it in full.

Thank you!

I am working on a disruption that will continue to disrupt, I hope to see you again here or join my community as we impact and contribute to the disruptions around us.
