Network marketing or direct selling is a popular business model first introduced by companies like Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics,  Tupperware and etc. 

The industry is an evolving industry. From its original door to door selling to what is now known as social media marketing.

This is a type of business opportunity is very popular with people looking for part-time and flexible businesses. 




What is network marketing?

Network marketing is a method of moving products or services from a company directly to its consumers through its independent associates also known as direct sellers. These direct sellers help the company find, acquire and retain new and old customers.

Depending on the compensation plan, sales associates are usually paid on a commission basis. Thus many millennials and home-based entrepreneurs are attracted to it since they are paid based on production instead of the number of hours they spend in an office.

How do you succeed in network marketing? 


1. Join the Company with Ethical and Legal Business Practices.

At all cost avoid companies with wrongdoings. If the company will encourage you to cheat or to do unethical business practices just to sell, be cautious!

Your company is your foundation. If greed is driving it, it's never going to be a long-term stable business. 

Good questions to ask to know if it is a legitimate network marketing company:

- Check if it is registered?
- Is there a product to sell?
- Do they have a good track record?
- Are they committed to quality?

2. Find the Right Leader.

You could be in the right company with the wrong leader. Most people trying to start a network marketing business are first timers, thus the right leader is an important factor to your success. Someone who will guide you.

In looking for the right leader, consider these qualities;

- Someone with the right attitude and mindset.
- Someone with the experience and skillset.
- Someone you can trust.
- Someone with the same vibe as you have.

This is a relationship business. If you can't trust that person inviting you or if you cannot find a common direction with that person then maybe that person is not the right person to lead you.

3. Know Your Business.

You cannot expect success at something that you are not familiar with. If you treat this as a business then you have an income. If you only give it 4 hours a week and you cannot expect to earn bigger than what you are earning from working 44 hours weekly.

You have to know your products, the deeper the knowledge the better you can sell it. 

Do you believe in your products? What's your story in using the products?

Be the product of your products. If you want to convince more people, be convinced first. 

To succeed in network marketing, you must develop the mindset and skills required for this type of business. Doubting yourself, procrastination, becoming negative and even mixing yourself with negative people will definitely not help you.

4. Have a Working System.

Millennials and many home-based workers are easily distracted. Focus is another key factor in your success. 

Do you have a specific action plan in the next 3-6 months? What is your daily mode of operation? I mean, how do you start and end your day?

Focus on your goals and be consistent with your workflow and your schedule.

Sit down and answer this:

- What is in your weekly schedule? 
- How many hours a day do you give for personal development?
- How much is your weekly, monthly or yearly income goal?
- Where should you go to find more customers?
- What is your marketing strategy?
- How do you support your customers?

Create a game plan with your leader.

5. Set the Right Expectation.

If you want to become a millionaire in 6 months, my question is do you have the skills to do it? Or the attitude to wake up even if it is no longer convenient?

Sometimes the problem is not because of the industry itself, but it's the people setting the wrong expectations as they join the industry.

You have to set the right expectation to yourself.

If you expect to achieve your target income within 12 months, then align your actions to that income level that you are expecting to earn.

Answer this:

- What skills or attitude am I lacking that is stopping me to achieve my goal?
- What other strategies can I add to grow my business?
- Who else can help me achieve it?
- What else do I need to give up to maximize my time?
